Ferrous Processing & Trading partners with Nissan North America and implements an innovative new scrap processing system for excess metal stampings.
Detroit, MI, February 2013 – Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT) is pleased to announce they will be operating as the sole Scrap Metals Manager with Nissan North American over the course of the next five years. The extended contract encompasses work at three U.S. plants including one in Mississippi and two in Tennessee. As the sole Scrap Metals Manager, FPT will considerably extend their services to support Nissan’s strategic plans for effectively managing its metal resources.

To support Nissan’s metal resource strategy, FPT will mainly focus on the largest Nissan operation located in Smyrna, TN. FPT plans to implement their proprietary Clipress system and a customized scrap metal processing program to process excess metal from Nissan’s stamping procedures.
The extended five-year agreement with Nissan North American solidifies FPT’s position as an industry leader in the management of automotive scrap metal in America. Nissan shows significant projected production increases in the coming years including a new Lithium Battery Plant and assembly location for the popular electric vehicle, the Nissan Leaf, which will be supported by FPT’s scrap metal management programs.
